Vintage Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets Drink Coaster - 020
Own a piece of Pittsburgh hockey history!!
Pittsburgh hockey "officially" began in 1915 when local politician Roy Schooley, a former hockey ref, founded the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets.
- In 1925 James Callahan renamed the team “The Pirates”, which he took from the city’s baseball club. In 1930 they resumed life as the Yellow Jackets once again.
- Until 1925 players were officially “amateur” but since many players came all the way from Canada to play there were accusations of them being paid.
